Now that Kirill's adoption is complete, I'm having a hard time deciding what to do with this blog. I had always intended to just stop posting here and post more on our family blog once Kirill was home. But I never really expected to have so many readers either! My other blog, the one I started 6 years ago (
Minivans and Mom Jeans...you should check it out!) has been woefully neglected since we started the adoption process two years ago. But, I love that blog because it's got so much of our family history on it AND it's where I did more creative writing for so long. Our Eyes Opened has a more serious tone. I'm thinking I can combine the two and share both philosophical posts AND the
hilarious & exaggerated stories of our family life.
I do not have time to keep up two blogs. (Who am I kidding? I haven't been keeping up two blogs as it is!)
I don't really want to close Minivans.
But most of you all started reading here.
Will you follow me if I stop posting here?
What to do?
I'm going to leave it up to you!
There's a poll if you look to the right--->
Cast your vote! Because I'm not good with decisions. And my brain is full right now. So tell me what to do!
Christine Reed always has an adoption blog, but stops posting there once the adoption is complete and only then posts on her family blog because once the adoption is complete, they are a family and experiencing life from that moment forward as a united family unit. But, I have a strong suspicion that your readers will follow you wherever you post. ;) ~Kristen Faulkner
ReplyDeleteHoney, I don't care where you post! Just keep posting somewhere!
ReplyDeleteI'll read where ever you decide to post. I have looked at your other blog briefly and I would love to hear more about your family as a whole. But I would also love to hear about the adjustments y'all are making as an adoptive family. Either way I'll read :)
ReplyDeleteJust switched over to your family blog.
ReplyDeleteI will swap over to Minivans!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad to have found you...we live south of Ttown and drive up atleast once a week for kids music lessons, shopping, etc.
Hope we might meet irl one day,
Amy
I'll follow you over to your family blog. I tried to start a blog just to advocate about adoption and I only have 4 followers. They are all already adopting so I am preaching to the choir. I have decided that I just need to close that one and go back to the one with followers. I figure if those people don't like or want to read about adoptions they can just skip those post. But my plan is to hopefully have one of those people's hearts be touched by adoption.
ReplyDeleteSo I say, go back to your original blog. Blog about whatever you like and people will read what interest them :)
I think you should start a thrid blog and keep them all up, haha, kidding.
ReplyDeleteI havent been to your other blog but love the title (going there in a min). I would only think it would be easier to go there since it sounds like that is the oldest blog with the most info. Kirill is now your family so his stories belong with your family blog not necessarily on an adoption blog....I will follow where ever....I have prayed for you all too long to forget about you guys now you are home.....gotta see this kiddo growing up with his awesome big brother :)
Even if you do retire this one, I hope that you will keep it available so that new families adopting might be able to read Kirill's story and see the great and mighty miracles that God did to bring him home and find hope for their own journey. I'll follow along wherever you post. :)
ReplyDeleteTesney it doesn't matter where you post, as long as you are able to keep posting! Seeing your journey to Kirill and the love and joy on your faces has opened my heart to the possibility of one day having a child with down syndrome....and really softened both my heart and my hubby's heart towards this, something only possible with God, He has used your story and this blog to minister to people, to show His power and glory through the power of prayer and the power of faith! The way that you continued putting one foot in front of another toward Kirill despite all the odds stacked against you is awesome, what a story, what an mighty God we serve! Love to all of you!
ReplyDeleteWe'll follow you wherever you go- don't worry about us!
ReplyDeleteIf you switch back to the other blog, it is a simple matter of adding a new bookmark to my list, so whatever you decide to do is fine. I think you should keep this one open though, like CareBear said.
ReplyDeleteill read anywhere! just pleeease dont stop! i couldnt cope without my tesney/krill fix! xx i am already at your other blog anyway! i am a professional RR stalker! :) xxxx
ReplyDeleteI have enjoyed both of your blogs over the years. Have you thought about consulting with a social media group to get some insight? I belong to the Georgia Social Media Moms on FB and they are a wealth of information. I can pose your question to them if there is not a similar thing available to you.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Kristen, you're a family now so why wouldn't you go to your family blog? I mean, I believe everyone will follow you wherever you decide to write b/c you're a gifted writer/blogger (and I've become somewhat of a stalker and very addicted!!!) but just know I support you whatever you decide. I love your silly... ahem, aweswome stories on Minivans, so that's my vote :) LOL
ReplyDeleteI switched over to your mini van site :)
ReplyDeleteI think it's safe to say we'll all read wherever you write... :)
ReplyDeleteJust make sure when you've chosen which blog to keep up... that you let us know! :)
Tesney - I thought the same thing. That once the adoption was over I'd stop posting. The only reason I was posting was because so many of our family and friends lived so far away it was the easiest way to keep them updated on the adoption. Once the adoption was done, things slowed down including my posting on the blog. I found great strength though in being able to post, especially on the hard days when we were struggling with doctors appointments on a daily basis, Reactive Attachment Disorder, issues with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, and more. It gave me a place to vent, a place to share, a way of getting it all out on paperwork which really helped me as I struggled to find balance in this new journey. Post when you need to, post when you want to. I'm sure your followers will read wherever you post. I definitely recommend maintaining the blog though. Kirill's story is an amazing story of faith and perseverance that other families need to see.
ReplyDeleteWhatever you want to do! I will still keep reading where ever you are posting!
ReplyDeleteThink deep and hard and do what you want. Just may sure you tell us how to get to Mini vans.
ReplyDeleteI will follow :)
ReplyDeleteI'll head over to wherever you decide to post to! :)
ReplyDeleteI will be so sad if I can't keep up with Kirill's progress, and his life...just make sure you put a link to where you are, if you choose to go to another site.
ReplyDeleteI liked reading it :)
ReplyDeleteI will read wherever you post.. May God bless all of you, your story is so heart touching. My eyes fill with tears... Love You, God is Good & Always on time...
